Why should field trips be just for kids? MONA's LA-to-LV Neon Cruise, a field trip for adults, recreates the fun of an old-school trip and updates it for an out-of-school audience. There will be lectures and quizzes, meeting points and counting off, but also tiki bars and casinos, as well as the freedom to heckle the lecturers and cheat on the quizzes. Moreover, the very subject of the cruise will be something you don't normally get to study in school: the history of Las Vegas neon signs and casino architecture.
Want to get away for a Las Vegas weekend? Our comfortable air-conditioned bus will whisk you to LV and back without the stress of driving and parking. Enjoy the comraderie of our eclectic and knowledgeable hosts: Eric Lynxwiler and Zed Adams will guide you on a journey to the glowing places of LV you never knew existed.
Urban anthropologist and L.A. historian J. Eric Lynxwiler is the co-author of several books of regional history as well as the affable host of MONA's Neon Cruise.
Zed Adams is an assistant professor of philosophy at the New School for Social Research in NYC. He regularly teaches courses on the philosophy of art and the relationship between technology and art.
