    bendblowglow Each day begins with a 2-hour demonstration followed by 4 hours of guided hands-on work over the torches. Cost includes a limited supply of glass, electrodes and other components necessary for mounting and wiring your completed neon unit onto a presentation base. November 12th & 13th, 2016 (Saturday and Sunday) 10am–1pm, 2pm–5pm (6 hours/day)Instructor: Michael Hernandez has had an intimate relationship with neon for the past seven years, exploring technical and artistic approaches and building neon studios in Indiana and California. In 2010, he earned his master’s degree from Alfred University. Hernandez resides in San Marcos, California, where he runs his neon studio and teaches glass at Palomar College.

    The Museum of Neon Art and the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles invite you to join us for a fantastic fundraiser and lighting of the newly-restored Brown Derby!HATS OFF TO HOLLYWOOD! Featuring MONA’s 1930s Brown Derby rooftop sign from Hollywood and Vine and other signs from the collection.JOHN SWOPE: Neon Photographs from Hollywood’s Golden Era, 1938MONA’s fundraiser is co-sponsored by members of the Art Deco Society Los Angeles. Together, both institutions are raising funds for the restoration and remounting of the 20′ x 8′, porcelain enamel Zinke’s shoe repair neon sign with animated neon hammer and shoe. Our goal is to place the sign back on public display on the exterior of MONA.This open house will allow access to MONA’s neon classroom, gallery and gift shop. Drinks and appetizers will be provided with ticket purchase. The Howling Hobo DJ will also be spinning vintage vinyl from the ‘20s and ‘30s.MONA and ADSLA members: $30 General Admission: $40
